Ian L. Pritchard Claim

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the States of Nevada (#PY0657) and California (#PSY24434) with over 20 years of education, training, and experience in providing psychological services to individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations. I specialize in adult evaluation and therapy that create a safe, supportive relationship in which individuals struggling with any number of life’s difficulties, are welcomed to take the adventurous first steps toward greater freedom and fulfillment. I have over 20 years of training and experience in the psychological assessment and treatment of adults from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My professional experience is drawn from a broad range of settings, including both outpatient and inpatient services. In the corporate sector, I have provided management training and organizational consultation to businesses ranging from retail franchise to multinational, Fortune 500 corporation. My practical training in mental health services included two years providing counseling and marital therapy to community members at a university-affiliated mental health clinic, three years providing therapy in a university counseling center, one year of individualized group psychotherapy training in an urban, community mental health center, one year providing comprehensive psychological assessments for a state bureau of vocational rehabilitation at a behavioral neuropsychology clinic, and a year providing treatment and evaluation in a state psychiatric hospital. I completed an American Psychological Association accredited, predoctoral internship in clinical psychology through Cornerstone Behavioral Health, where I received specialized training in evidence-based, psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalytic theory, as well as the evaluation and treatment of adults living with co-occurring severe mental illness and developmental disabilities in a private residential facility. During my internship, I also provided a year of substance abuse treatment in a community mental health center setting, in addition to providing community members with individual and marital therapy in a private practice setting. I completed my postdoctoral work in forensic and correctional psychology through California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS), where I continued to enjoy success in working with underserved, behaviorally challenging, culturally diverse, and allegedly “treatment resistant” populations within a residential setting. In 2012, I was a recipient of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists Early Career Psychologist scholarship. I have recently retired from CCHCS as a Senior Supervising Psychologist managing the daily operations of a mental health department in a maximum security setting. I also served as the Director of Clinical Training, and clinical supervisor, for pre-licensed psychologists and social workers seeking post-graduate experience in corrections. Outside of my private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Reno, NV, I am currently Vice President of the A.K. Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems (AKRI), and serving a second three-year term as an elected member of the Board of Directors. In this role, I also serve as a member of the AKRI Executive Committee, appointed Chair of the Internal Relations Committee, and a member of the Academic Research and Publication Committee. In addition to my leadership within the national organization of AKRI, I am currently serving a three-year term as an elected member of the Board of Directors for Grex, the West Coast Affiliate of the A.K. Rice Institute
