Dr. Diana Wright Claim

Dr. Wright is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and has maintained a private practice in Reno, Nevada since 1999. With over 30 years experience as a counselor/psychotherapist, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are infertility/reproductive, marital/relationship (Gottman certified), gay and lesbian issues, health issues, personal growth, parenting concerns, grief and loss, anxiety and depression. Dr. Wright received her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine, in Human Behavior and Criminal Justice in 1981. A Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work was attained two years later at San Diego State University. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Dr. Wright worked with children, adolescents, couples, and families in a variety of settings addressing a complete spectrum of issues. Dr. Wright returned to school in the early 1990’s to obtain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, completed in 1996. She then obtained a coveted APA approved residency position at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu Hawaii where she was exposed to multi-cultural healing techniques amongst a diverse population. In 2001, Dr. Wright completed certification in Mind-Body Medicine at Harvard Medical School’s Mind-Body Institute which she integrates into her therapy by educating patients about the connections between the mind (what the mind thinks) and the body (how the body manifests these thoughts in physical forms), also referred to as psychoneuroimmunology. Dr. Wright spent five years studying with Drs. John and Julie Gottman of the Gottman Institute, Seattle Washington. The Gottman Institute (www.Gottman.com) is dedicated to research and training clinicians in the Gottman method of therapy for couples. Dr. Wright completed all required training and received her certification as a Gottman therapist in 2011. Dr. Wright is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
